Winix Plasmawave 5300

The Winix PlasmaWave 5300 is a budget room purifier designed to handle more space at a lower price than its competitors. Rated for spaces up to 350 square feet, this air cleaner can remove 99.97% of airborne contaminants in even the largest bedrooms and living spaces in your home thanks to its three-stage air purification system and hospital-quality TrueHEPA filter.

Winix PlasmaWave 5300 Features

One of the biggest advantages of the PlasmaWave 5300 Air Cleaner Model – especially compared to similarly-priced purifiers – is its three-stage air purification system which can capture particles down to just 0.3 microns in size at a 99.97% effective rate.

  • Odor Control Carbon Pre-Filter – The odor control carbon pre-filter works to capture large contaminants like hair and dust, as well as absorb unpleasant odors and gases. The pre-filter comes coated with CleanCel to inhibit the growth of mold and bacteria.
  • TrueHEPA Filter – The bread-and-butter of the Winix PlasmaWave 5300, its TrueHEPA filter provides hospital-quality purification of even the smallest pollutants. Just a few of the common contaminants trapped by the TrueHEPA filter include smoke, dust mites, pet dander, pollen, and mold.
  • PlasmaWave Technology – The final stage of the 5300’s filtration system is its patented namesake PlasmaWave Technology. PlasmaWave Technology generates both positive and negative ions in order to create plasma clusters that instantly neutralize virus, bacteria, chemical vapors, and odors in the air. Plus, it does all of that without creating and harmful ozone emissions.

  • Never forget to replace the filter thanks to the units handy Replacement Indicator Light
  • Energy Star approval means that you don’t need to worry about how much it’s costing you to keep your home’s air clean.

Looking for a “set-and-forget” solution? The Winix PlasmaWave 5300 air cleaner model has a built-in air quality sensor that can automatically adjust the unit’s fan speed based on the level of pollution in the room.

When the air in a room has been purified, the PlasmaWave will go into low-power mode, operating at its lowest setting, until pollution is detected again.

Winix PlasmaWave 5300 Review

Although the 5300 is typically considered a budget air purifier, it packs many of the same high-quality features of units two-to-three times its price. While Winix’s one-year limited manufacturer’s warranty leaves a little something to be desired, you positively aren’t going to find another air purifier that offers the same level of filtration for as many square feet as the Winix PlasmaWave 5300.
